Race Information

WHO?

You and all of the yachting friends you can round up are invited!  Galveston to Gulfport Yacht Race is an open regatta and there is plenty of room for everyone.


WHAT?
The Galveston to Gulfport Yacht Race is a Category 2 (ISAF Offshore Special Regulations Governing Offshore Racing for Monohulls & Multihulls (ISAF Special Regulations) open regatta for all racing, cruising, spinnaker and non-spinnaker sailing yachts.  Monohull yachts must be at least 30 feet length on deck ("LOD").  Monohulls must have a minimum crew of four capable sailors.  Multihulls must be at least 27 feet length on deck (“LOD”) and must have a minimum crew of three experienced and capable sailors.

  • The race will begin inside the jetties at Galveston and proceed seaward through the jetties and then southeast around the boot of Louisiana, always off-shore at a distance to avoid shoal waters.  Once clear of Louisiana, the race will turn north and enter the safety fairway and then the marked channel that terminates at the Port of Gulfport, Mississippi.
  • The Gulfport Race will be followed two weeks later by the Gulfport to Pensacola Race sponsored by Southern Yacht Club.

COST OF ENTRY:

  • Entry Fee:  $275.
  • US SAILING Members receive a $25 discount.
  • After midnight on May 6, 2012, an additional $50 fee will be charged for late entry.  The deadline for late entry is midnight on May 13, 2012.

MERCHANDISE:

  • Merchandise will be available at Lakewood Yacht Club, at the Safety and Navigation Seminar and at the Skippers' Meeting.  Items remaining, if any, will be sold in Gulfport. SPOT rentals are available by ordering, in advance online.  SPOT devices can be picked up at Lakewood Yacht Club at the Skippers' Meeting.
